My plan is to apply for a 30 day visa fo vietnam while in China and for Thailand while in Vietnam. Does anybody have any experience with this before?? Can there be problems at the embassy for any reason??

Vietnamese visa's are easy in China (and in my experience, even easier in Hong Kong), and for Thailand, you don't need a visa if you are Norwegian, or all other vaguely friendly/first world countries. You are given 30days at the border automatically, and you only need to get one beforehand if you need a specific study or work visa, ane even then most people don't have work visas (very hard to obtain) and do visa runs each month which is accepted as the norm by the govt as well.

Vietnam seems to be changing slightly, and it's worth checking. When we entered in Feb, the 2 Danish girls suffered problems leaving China and for a while thought they wouldn't be let in to Vietnam - until with our combined dodgy Mandarin we realised that the problem was that (apparently) they had Vietnamese visas, but the governemnt had got rid of the requiremnent for Danes and, i think, Finns a few weeks before. And it's possible Noprwegians may be the same, I don't know.
