I've been thinking alot about travelling, cuz i'm just curious and spontanious.. i'm 16 though.. i'm very independant, i live by myself in Tasmania, australia.

I talk to people on the internet (camfrog) and have been for about 2 years and everybody talking about such different surroundings i thought i want to go..

Another problem is that i get a whole AU$190 a f/n and only usually have $20 left.. :P i like meeting new ppl.

Heaps of the operators on camfrog (which i am one of) travel and visit ppl in different continents and i wish to do the same..

Belgium has really taken mi eye lately, a few ppl live there who i am good friends with.. but i just can't afford it..

Canada is also up the top.. :P and atlanta, georgia and yer...

Just sooo interesting.. its my dream to do it soon but its just so difficult.. if anyone could offer me any advice that would be good..

You're 16 and you live by yourself??? How does that work?

James - Easily, in most cases! (says he that left home at 13, although that was a bit different)

Tas - Basically, save up as much as you can, and look into getting a part time job or similar. In Europe etc it's easiret to travel very cheaply or for free, but the sheer distance and logisicts from Tasmania mean that isn't so much of an option for you.

If you don't have any other sources of income or parents etc that you could borrow from, afraid the best bet is probably saving like mad...

Air couriering is one option which can help reduce teh cost (you get cheap rates in exchange for giving up your baggage allowance to be used by somebody else's package - but in these case, you are restricted to the flights which the corier companies need to fly on, and their set dates, and generally they only operate between major hubs

Tas... I went to America on my own when i was 16 to meet my boyfriend at that time who was travelling around over there for tree months. I only went for 10 days, still a massive experience though. ... I must warn you though that it's not that easy to travel when you're that young, i just want to you to think about the fact that you can't even go into a bar to buy a beer etc. I don't know how old your friends are, cause if they're older it makes everything a bit easier. I don't want to scare you away from going cause I really think you should, but just remember to consider everything. In Florida the immigration police held me back for three hours and phoned my mum in the middle of the night in Denmark because they thought I had run away from home! So if you go maybe it's a good idea to get a letter from your parents or somebody to say that you're allowed to travel, I don't know how harsh immigration police are here in Europe, but it's an idea!
I wish you all the best of luck and really hope that you can manage to get away soon... i know only too well how you feel and how big the longing after getting away must be

All the best and good luck with everything

Jannie ;)

thnx.. I know people all around the world.. its hard cuz i don't know exactly where i want to go but i can sort out the accomodation part very easily its mainly just the leaving part. I'm used to now taking care of myself but i want more challenges. i've been on "wilderness challenge camps" here in Australia a few times but now they are just boring... I pretty much don't know where to go first.. because i would like to spend money on the right first place and enjoy it so that i have more incentive to return or go to other countries.

and plus its pretty expensive.. :P

Thanks for your help guys,
