Hi folks

I am planning to go to Australia at the end of Jan 05 for 1 year with a working travel visa. I am statring to re-search more into all the possibilities. I am taking a week off work next week "On a mission to get as much info as poss"
Would anyone be able to suggest where to start off first? I was thinking about going to Sydney first then taking it from there!?

Any advise and recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Hey Zoe! Thanks for the mail!
If you haven't already got it, get the Lonely Planet Guide to Australia with the Kangaroo on the front. Researching is loads of fun, I'm sure I know more about Oz than most Ozzies!!!!!
To be honest, websites like this (and another favourite of mine is its got a forum like this too! And They are brill for research, ideas, jobs, on-line diaries, weather reports, cheap deals, exchange rates, hostels and stuff that you never knew existed! Don't know what I'd do without the internet!

Dear Zoe,

I'm from Australia so I thought I'd put my 'two cents in'

It really depends on what you want to see. Australia is a huge place - a continent and has a huge variety of natural landscapes. If you want to see reefs and rainforests and experience the warmer stereotypical Australia you could travel to Byron Bay, the Gold Coast or anywhere else in northern NSW or Queensland. If you want to see the desert, Uluru and all that then go to the Northern Territory. Tasmania has some beautiful temperate forests and alpine vegetation and Victoria has a bit of everything..... If you want to meet people and experience Australian cities then you should go to Sydney or Melbourne. I could go on and on.
Message me if you want me to ;) I've travelled a lot in Australia and know a little about a lot.
