Hey everyone...few friends and I are planning a trip to Buenos Aires and Rio at the end of September. Whats the cheapest and best way to travel up to Venezuala from either of these cities?

My experience is that Venezuela is one of the least dangerous countries in South America for travellers - as long as you stay out of Caracas which is apparently the 4th most dangerous city in the world (don't ask me about the other three - this is just something I've heard!) with loads of robberies, kidnapping, etc. Of course, you'll have to go through Caracas at some point, especially if you're planning on flying out of the country. I spent almost a month in Venezuela, but hardly no time at all i Caracas because we had heard so much bad about it. As for the rest of Venezuela, people are superfriendly and I never felt threatened, not even once (as I did occasionally in Ecuador, Peru and Brasil).

However, travelling up to Venezuela from Buenos Aires or Rio de Janeiro is a LOOONG trip and it's not likely to be cheap, no matter means of travel. What are your plans after Venezuela? Going back down south or continuing north? Brazil is HUUUUGE and you can't really just jump over to Venezuela for a day.

Anyway, I hope this is of any help. Feel free to post me if you have any more questions!
