I’m travelling to Thailand next week, august the 1st and still debating whether or not to bring my guitar. Obviously there are pro's and cons, carrying it/missing it etc. So I want to know of anyone experiences of travelling with a guitar, or if anyone has ever bought a guitar in Thailand, how much? Where from? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as i dont think i could live without it for too long!
Thanks in advance, Dave.

If you are extremely attached to the guitar id say go for it. If not then id just buy a guitar in Thailand because carrying the guitar is such a royal pain. You gotta carry that plus your luggage which isnt fun. I have b4 and i dont ever wanna do that again lol. Theres also a risk of getting it damaged. sup to u bro.

I've travelled quite a bit with a guitar (hitchiking around NZ, through South East Asia (twice), and around Australia) and I figure that if you do it right, it's not too big of a hassle and it's defiently worth taking.
For me the best option was a 3/4 size classical that I bought at a pawn shop for about $50. It was cheap, small, and I didn't care if I beat the hell out of it. The downside of course is that they don't sound as good as a full size, but I recon the convenience vs sound is a good happy medium.
What I did was strap it to my backpack, strings in, with a small bungy chord. I hardly ever noticed that it was on my back and I could walk around easily with both hands free. A 3/4 size also easily fits in over head storage on planes and buses, so there is never a need to check it.
If you can't find one at home, you can defienlty pick one up in bangkok for a decent price. Check out the many shops in the Kao San area. Since it is a backpackers haven, they cater to those needing travel friendly guitars and there are many small ones to be found.

You can pick up a guitar no problem in Bangkok. Best bet for an okay, inexpensive one would be the department stores - I've bought some in Central Chitlom in Bangkok.
