hey guys..
i'm currently planning my trip to cambodia in next couple of months. i wish i could travel as long as i could. unfortunately, i would only have approximately 6-7 days 
other than siam reap (which is in my list), would anyone kind enuff to give me some suggestion where else should i consider?

As you already know the highlight of a visit to Cambodia is Angkor Wat. Other than that I would suggest spending a day in Phnom Penn, where you can visit the touture/genecide museum, check out the palace along the Mekong, the Khmer art in the National Museum, and take a side trip out to the killing fields.

We will be arriving at siam reap first and travel to phnom penh before leaving home.

With such a short time to see Cambodia, you won't have many options. If you're a big temple/archaelogy fan, you might consider stopping in Kompong Thom for a day. It's on the road between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. Close to Kompong Thom is Sambor Prei Kuk, some old Khmer brick temple ruins. Another option is stopping in Battambang for a day or two. It's on a different road linking Siem Reap and PP. Or you can travel by boat (some nice canals and river) from SR to Battambang. Nice riverside town with some more cool ruins (Phnom Banan, etc.) nearby.
I'm still trying to work out my leave so i can spend more days there.

You have 6-7 days for Cambodia, I would suggest to stay in Siem Reap for 4 days, then take the boat from Siem Reap to Battambong (as I found this boat trip truly enjoyable, then go further to Phnom Penh by bus, after that you will fly back home from Phnom Penh.

we manage to strecth bout 10 days.. and we are planning to start our journey from siam reap then take a boat ride to phnom penh then to sihanoukville and back to phnom penh to fly back home..

If you have a day to spare while you're heading to the south coast, consider stopping in Kampot and/or Kep. Near Kampot is Bokor Mountain...a spooky former hotel/casino on the top of a beautiful mountain. Kep has a similar deserted feel. Both towns are great little spots to check out along the way.
