What to bring for longer stay in Ecuador?

Hey! Im setting off to Ecuador in a few days,and Im now a bit conserned for what to bring?? And, how is the shopping in Quito? Can you get hold of mountain gear, like shoes and waterproof clothing there, or should I buy this at home??
