Anyone ever been to Easter Island? Any advice on getting cheap flights from Santiago (I could only find 700 euro-ones) or on anything about Easter Island?
I used the search function, but did not find anything.

Hi Jean,
I was there last March and I managed to get a flight from Santiago for US$500 with Lan airlines. That was an e-ticket. I met people who got them for even less.
If you are planning on flying on to NZ there are some tickets you can get where you can land in Easter Island, so check that out if you are.
Lan are the only people who fly to Easter Island to the best of my knowledge.

Thanx for the info. I am definetely not going to pay 700 euros for the flight. I have read accomodation and food are quite expensive on the island, too. Unfortunately, I am not flying on to NZ, that will be for a next trip. I only have 4.5 months to see South-America, so I will already have a tight schedule. I'll see for the flight once I get to Santiago. I couldn't find any other company than Lan flying to Easter Island either.

It is only Lan flying to Easterisland and it is not cheap.
If you bay very early than it could be that you can get one of the cheaper seats.
It is about an 5-6 hour flight to the Island and the flights are mostly overbookt.
Here you can get lucky!
When the Plane is overbookt they ask for Volontiers!
They offer Hotel,Food and Transfer from/to the Airport
BUT you get on top of it an Voucher for a free Flight.
Valid for 1 year.
I took the Flight (Roundtrip) Santiago-Punta Arenas.I could make 1 Stop Over,for this I had to pay $ 30.00
So this made the Easterisland Ticket cheaper for me.
For a nice Room (double)with privat Bathroom/Shower including Breakfast I paid $20.00
Intersting Time to be there is around Carneval,the Festival with the traditional Competitions is very special.
