In my opinion, Beijing is the most beautiful city.

Can you imagine the feeling of standing on the Great walk? How breathtaking you are goin' to feel?
And you are looking for a place with history, I strongly recommend Beijing, it's a very modern city with a long and profound history, you'll get your goals in this city. Also, It is well known that China is the world's oldest civilization and has so much ancient culture, pls visit -snip-

I really, really liked Veliko Tarnovo in Bulgaria. It's based around a river that meanders through a steep sided valley. There's an overgrown fortress in the centre that provides spectacular views over the city and a bizarre church in the fortress. Also has the best hostel I've visited in my life - Hostel Mostel.

Innsbruck is another contender...

London, of course :D. Samuel Johnson was right!

Wow. I can't choose from what you gave! They're all equally beautiful. But if you'll ask me, Paris is really beautiful especially during the night. Same thing with Tokyo. The lights are just mesmerizing. But the rest of the cities are beautiful in a way too.

It's been several more years now, and many fantastic cities have been crossed off the list:

Several of those were recommended, and none have disappointed!

Next on the list, in no particular order: Istanbul, St. Petersburg, Paris, Prague and Bruges!

Maybe need to get some more Asian cities back on the list too :)

I was in Krakow last summer (in Poland). I think is the different than typical holiday country.
You can saw the old time and go to a party (with very nice people - most of them speak English ;)
It's good opportunity to saw the Musem: Auschwitz the Nazi Concentration Camp (visit Auschwitz)
Or you can saw the old castle: WAWEL ;)
