hi everyone was just wonderin where is the best place to convert my cash? m+s are the best i have seen so far but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
EXCHANGE RATES?
Depends on how much your changing, how long you going away for, where you are going?
Answer these and we can get back to you, with some suggestions.

hey the amount is £2500 gbp converting to australian dollars
M&S tend to do the best with large amounts. I'll point out, that will give you a lot of cash to carry. You are better leaving it in your account and using an ATM when you get to Oz.
this will prob sound silly but im new to this, i will set up my account when i arrive in oz ozintro are sorting that for me, would it not be best to take the cash over to put into that account?
If you are going direct, ie not staying anywhere along the way for a couple of nights and you know the bank account will be ready and waiting, you can do it. Make sure you have a money belt and don't advertise how much you a carrying. But if the account is going to be ready before you leave, it is much safer to ask your current bank to transfer it for you. I'm living in England at the moment and transfer money to my Oz bank account every month. I guess it is bank dependant but I get good exchange rates and the fees are less than Western Union.
yeah going direct so think just taking it with me and put it straight in when i get there one other thing tho again prob silly but is there a difference of taking travelers cheques or cash and is there a better exchange rate for one or the other?
What are the chances you can arrange with your family to transfer the funds into your account when you get there?? Travellers cheques would certainly be a safer way to get the money there but the exchange rate probably won't be as good as cash. If you are going into a youth hostel when you arrive and taking the cash, see if they have a safe you can put valuables in on arrival until you can get it to a bank.
If you've got a Maestro Cirrus ATM card, couldn't you wait until you arrive in Oz and when you get here, pull money directly out of you bank account from your normal bank account at home, then take the cash and deposit it into your new Aussie bank account??? It would be much safer if this is possible. This is what I did when I went to live in The Netherlands. Can't see why it wouldn't work down here!
WONDERBUS!
i got mine changed at m & s but what i did was to take some cash with me think about £200 worth then when i got there i put the rest of my money in to an Oz bank acount
