Can anyone give me any advise on doing volunteer work in India. I've been looking into it on the net and I'm finding it hard to come across a group that doesn't charge you.
I'm looking to teach children or volunteer in an orphanage perhaps.
Flying into Delhi and am looking to volunteer in northern India.

Planning on heading off first week in Jan'07 and want to volunteer for c.2 months.

Grateful for any suggestions.

Hi Linda/ Yvonne.
If you guys are genuinely looking for volunteer work, I suggest you go to Northren Pakistan. There was a devastating earthquake there last october, flattening whole communities and killing more than 70000 people. There are a lot of NGO's helping victims in re-hab.You can easily attach with one or can work independantly.

If you are certain you want to work in India then read no further

If you are seeking to help people without such a precondition then please come and help us starting a school near Siem Reap in Cambodia. No question of us charging you. We woould be grateful for the help. The school opened on October 1st and is already teaching over 500 children.
