Hi,
I am going to be in Seoul, Korea on business with my husband in October. I would like to tie this business trip in with a trip to a destination where we can really relax and unwind, yet sightsee when we want to. I was thinking of going to Phuket, Thailand, but I see that October is the rainy season there. In fact one Web site I went to warns people to stay away from Phuket in October because of the weather.

Does anyone have any experience there in October? How bad are the rains?

How about other suggestions? Is anyone aware of an interesting place where we can get away and relax and the weather is ok?

Any advice you can give me would be most appreciated!

Instead of Phukett in October, I rather go for Bali at that time of the year... Monsoon is coming and usually it'll hit Thailand area, but if you go south to Bali, the weather usually is finer, and the rainy season won't start until late October or early November! There's a flight also I think going from Seoul to Bali...

To be honest, it rains most days but only for a hour or 2, then it clears up! Its still very hot (30 oc most of the time) Im going this ovtober myself. I wouldnt let it bother you because its alot quieter and still very hot! Did you know it actulay rains most of the year round anyway? apart from a cople of months in the year wre its unbearably HOT! Its nice to get abit of refreshing rain. If you ask me, october is the best time to go !! :)

October is not thee best time of the year for Phuket because it may rain. How much? Nobody really knows because the weather patterns seem to change these last years.
But more important: Tu unwind, relax and do some sightseeing Phuket might not be the right place. True, in October it`s not yet packed that much, but it might not be what I guess you expect. You might try one of the smaller islands south like Koh Mook or Koh Ngai(Hai).

If you have never been to China, I suggest you plan a trip to Beijing, Xian or Shanghai, which are top attactions of China. After all, it is not so far from Korea to China. The date after Oct. 7th is the most favorable time, for Oct.1st to Oct.7th is the public holidays for China's National Day which is the high season of tourism, it is always crowded in some scenic spots. And the weather during this period is fairly cool.
