Unfortunately I'm arriving into the new BKK airport at 2 am October 1st. I've been looking around and it's been difficult on some of these sites.

Does anyone have any recommendations/contacts of budget places to stay? I prefer something close to transport/attractions. I'm not looking for the "good night life" or party central. Somewhere nice, local foods nearby, and easy to get to the sights. I don't plan on staying in BKK long before heading north.

Any suggestions?

Google up the HONEY HOTEL for more info. They are located on Sukhumvit Soi 19 and the e-mail address in honeyho@ksc.th.com. The Honey Hotel is not far from the Skytrain which can be used for easy travel to many places in Bangkok.

Budget doesn't mean much unless you put a value on what you consider "budget" pricing. Some travellers think paying 2000 baht is getting budget pricing, for me I kind of like something in the $10 to $20 range for budget pricing depending on the town I am in.

Honey Hotel will have rooms with air conditioning, hot water, private toilet/bath, cable TV, maid service and the use of a pool starting around 850 baht.

There are lots of economy hotels in the 650 baht to 1300 baht range that are not too bad!

Cheaper hotels without air and sometimes with shared bath facilities at lower prices.

If you're looking for a backpacker orientated place and assuming you want to stay on SUkhumvit Road, better choices than Honey House include:

Suk11 -- long-running and extremely popular. Walking distance from Nana Skytrain on Sukhumvit Soi 11.

Nanachart Guesthouse - brand new YHA affiliated hostel on Sukhumvit Soi 25 -- this place is SPOTLESS with private rooms and mixed dorms. Halfway between Asok and Phrom Phong Skytrain stations (ie walking distance from both)

If you'd rather head over to Khao San Road (the backpacker's ghetto) there's over a hundred guesthouses to choose from -- Shambara remains one of the best.
