I hope there are enough forum members from your Islands.

I don't know anything about the travel insurance Companies on the British Virgins.

In generall I guess the most rules and regulations for travel insurances in the world are the same.

You need to look at some points:

Many cheap travel insurances are saying valid for 1 year. Which is true, but always only to a limited period of traveling. eg 6 weeks.
That means you can make during 1 year several trips not exiding 6 weeks.

Try to look for a travel insurance which will cover your 5 month. There are also some who will help immediatly by bigger cases, as surgery or similar.

Important would be the health part. Baggage insurance is a pain in the a.. when trying to claim something. So maybe not that important.

There is another possibility, If you are able to pay your air ticket by credit card and some other things during your holidays, you could use the travel insurance from your credit card. Best to check this with your credit card company.

Check your credit card company... usually when you use your credit card to buy airline tickets, or any public transportation tickets, it'll be covered automatically! Mine is... Automatic travellers insurance when I buy transportation tickets with my credit card!

Make sure you look at the 'excess' ratings on it e.g. you may be covered for medical costs but only once you have spent £50 for example. Also, if you are intending to do adventure type stuff e.g. diving, then make sure you are covered! i have been advised to stay away from banks insurance because although you may get a good price, they dont necessarily provide the best cover. Look at the small print!
