.....SUNCREAM !!!! It's starting to warm up down here, don't cook yourself as soon as you get off the plane. I've lost count of how many people head straight to the beach, throw their shirts off and bake like big fat snakes sitting on a rock. They get soooo burnt they aren't pink, red but bloody purple. This can seriously stuff up your fun, because when you're than burnt, the most you can do is lie on your back with a fan blowing and whilst being covered in moisturing cream for about 7 days. Believe me, most of us Aussies at some point of our lives have been burnt to a cinder because we forgot or couldn't be bothered putting suncream on. Go the cream and feels more like paint when you apply it...Factor 30. It takes about what feels like 3 hours to completely rub in, but atleast you know your not goin' to get fried. Also to remember to apply it on cloudy days as well. Cloudy days are deceiving, most people think that you can't get burnt under cloud. Let me assure you, you can get bloody scorched under cloud cover because the UV is higher.

We have the highest rate of skin cancer in the world down here, because over the years people were too relaxed about the whole suncreen idea....and believe me, it's a very good idea.

Have fun

If you are heading to our surf beaches, only swim between the flags on patrolled beaches. Just because dumb locals swim anyway, that doesn't mean it is safe - some of us have a death wish. If you see signs that say "don't swim here" - DON'T. There is a good reason for the sign, particularly if you are up north. There are lots of bitey things that don't want you swimming in their water.

Above all, enjoy.
