Just after peoples experiences and advice of things to do, places to see etc. Vietnam looks to be one of the last places on my trip so may be limited by budget but time is not an issue really, I'd like to engross myself in the culture and the scenery really.

Thanks in Advance Kye

Hi,
Then I think Hanoi, Sapa, Hue, Hoi An, Mekong Delta and Phu Quoc should be your destinations. And for all these places, about 4 weeks are enough.
Cheers,

Don't miss Saigon! It's a buzzing & exciting city, I had some fantastic times there. If you interested in the Vietnam war, you can visit the war museum and make a trip to the cu chi tunnels, it's about 1 hour away from Saigon.

Halong bay was spectacular, amazing scenary and a must see!

Hoi An a beautiful little town which is world heritage site, very cheap, great food, great beach. They serve a beer called beer larue!! bloody luvly!

Hanoi, for me i did not like, thought the people very hostile and had a few bad experiences, watch out for the dodgy cyclo drivers, they love to con you!

Saigon, amazing city and full of loads to do. cu chi tunnels which is just outside the city was the highlight for me.

take an open bus tour and hop on and off the bus, just make sure you don't drink or eat to much as they don't tend to stop frequently for toilet breaks!

Hey, I'm planning to run a Ho Chi Minh-Hanoi-Kunming-Guilin-Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hongkong bit in two weeks? You think 14 days is cutting it too tight?

How is the border crossing between Vietnam and China?

Hi, monsterboy,
I am in Guilin now, in Guangxi province , which is the bodering area between China and Vietnam, so I usually travel between China and Vietnam.
So before your trip , you need to go to the Chinese embassy in Vietnam, with your identity Card, registered permanent residence, passport and three pictures, and then fill in three appilication forms. after 7days, you can get your visa. that is enough.
