Heading out on my own and just wondering whos gonna be out there at this time.. never travelled abroad on my own, im staying in Base-backpackers for 1st week.. after that well, dunno havent planned anything.. all i got is a 1yr WHV, so maybe looking for work for a bit.

Hi Kev,
It truly won't take you long to make friends out here. There are many many people travelling on their own and feeling the same way just prior to arriving.
You will find it so easy within the backpacker hostels to meet people and also to begin to plan what you may want to do.
My suggestion to many people is to visit other hostels as well and read notice boards there as they contain huge amounts of info on who is going where, where the work is available, etc etc.

I stayed in Base when I first came out here in May, I came out here on my own and soon made friends. I found a job within a week..
Try www.seek.com.au / www.taw.com.au / www.mycareer.com.au for jobs around sydney. Also check out hostel boards and the sydney morning herald on saturdays / tuesdays for the recruiment.

Know a bit how you feel, I'm also travelling down under for the first time, and alone. Leaving Norway 1th November. Everybody I've talked to says that it's no problem finding a job or new friends, so all we have to do is be friendy, open minded and positive!
