hi everyone:

My husband and I live in the UK and we are planning to go to Thailand for our honeymoon, I was wondering if anyone can advice us on a good place to go to (island) and maybe the best month to go to. We want to relax, maybe get some nice massages and get a nice tan. Also snorkelling, ride and Elephant, etc You know the whole experience!

I would appreaciate it if anyone can provide me with information

Hi Miriam

You would be as well to check out the weather on the islands as it varies from east to west coast first.
On the east side try Ko Phangan (Ban Khai, Ban Tai, Ao Nai Wok are all good beaches here). Try & avoid Had Rin on your honeymoon as thats where the full moon parties are. Koh Tao is also good for diving.

On the east side Ko Phi Phi is definitely a good pick as too is Koh Lanta.

Enjoy your honeymoon :-)

I've heard that Ko Samui is pretty much ruined by tourism now so don't go there for a romantic holiday!
Ko Phangan is where the full moon parties are held (near Haad Rin beach on the east coast of the island) so avoid if you want some peace and quiet, but the west coast of the island is supposed to be pretty much untouched. (I've heard Bottle Beach is beautiful).
The Phi Phi islands are where the film The Beach was filmed are look stunning on all their pictures.
Also, Ko Chang near the Bangkok part of Thailand is apparantly a very beautiful island aswell.

If you go anytime from November - March the weather should be good, and all will have great beaches, massages, elephant riding etc.

hello both of you

Thank you so much for your advise
I will look it up, I have so many questions and we are so excited. First we need to decide where we are going and then find a nice place to stay!
We are planning to go for around 10 days and maybe stay in Bankok for a few days (shopping) before we hit the beach!

Hello m.spall

Thailand has lots of exotic islands to stay on, and for every price range.
Most tourists who just want to relax and have a holiday, rather that the backpacking experience, would probably go to Phuket island. And there will be tours available, to do and see things. It is full of beautiful luxerious hotels, at the beaches, if u want to splash out, on your honeymoon.
The best months to go to Thailand are November to Feburary. The weather is hot, but not evil and the monsoons are over.
If u are looking for a package, that includes everything, i think most good travel agents would be able to provide this.

Hi West Railay beach in the Krabi area is really nice, beautiful beach, nice restaurants, stunning limestone cliffs. It's a great place to relax, but you can also go on some day trips to other islands, snorkel, kyack etc.

And of course the Phi Phi Islands, which I have a soft spot for. Koh Phi Phi Don has some small resorts which are aimed at honeymooners. The main resort Ton Sai bay is quite lively- lots of bars and is quite busy, looks a bit make sift too since the tsunami as they are still building, not sure if it would be suitable for a honeymoon, again depends what you're after?

Hello there

Many thanks for all your replies, I am looking to go to Koh chang or phi phi islands around july, would it be monsoon then?

For a holiday I would say one of the smaller islands like Phi Phi but for a honeymoon I would say Samui.

Samui is the most built up of the islands and has all the resorts and everything you have mentioned (except elephant, why do you want to ride a wild animal anyway????).
You can get hotels that have their own beaches and pools so their is no problem with getting some privacy on your honeymoon, as well as having the restaurants and clubs a few miniutes away.

Myself and my bf just got off the plane from Samui to Bangkok literally and hr ago! This was our second time there in the last 2 months. Abs paradise!! We stayed in Thai Beach House Resort in Lamai in Koh Samui. Can't say enough about it! They even have candle light dinners on the beach at night where they set off fireworks...
