Hi, im headed to Singapore en route to Australia at the end of January and have 5 days free in Singapore. I decided to stay in a hotel as im going to be trying to get over jet lag etc. However this means I will be on my own. My other problem is I have found out that the hotel I am staying at (the copthorne orchid-has anyone stayed here???) is quite far from many of the attractions-altho the hotel run a free shuttle bus to orchard road. So I was just wondering if anyone knew of any organised city tours ie hop on hop off busses I could take?

Any advice appreciated

I know Singapore Airlines do a city tour which is hop on hop off, (l know this is good for transit passengers but lm not sure about Joe Public) but the MRT (subway is very handy and you can jump on and off it very easily and it is regular), we took a bus to the zoo & night safari - again easy to follow.

We spent 5 days in Singapore and l think we more or less got in everything we wanted to see.

Hi Hels,
half way down orchard road there's hippo tours, think it's hippo. you can get open top tours water tours etc. Tourist info also on Orchard. 5 days is well long enough to see everything you want to see in Sing.

Hi Hels

Welcome to Singapore. The transport system in Singapore, MRT and bus system is very convenient and as our country is very small, five days should cover the island. I have a few places which I suggest you can visit. You can take a local day tour which will bring u to all the local attractions, like the zoo, bird park, sentosa etc or by MRT train. Must visit Chinatown (free shuttle from Outram MRT), Little India (free shuttle from Dhoby Ghaut MRT)and you must try our Chilli or Pepper Crab, Chicken Rice and Roti Prata. Most of us speak English and also in every MRT there are maps and station controllers to assist you. So dont worry and have an enjoyable holiday!

No need for an organized tour in Singapore... Trust ME!!! Just get to orchard by many public transports there, taxis are also really cheap in Singapore, and go to the Singapore Tourist Information Center at Orchard! You can get free maps of Singapore, attractions infos, how to get to them by public transports, just make sure you wear comfortable shoes to walk around, because in Singapore, that's what you'll be mostly doing! Enjoy Singapore! The most practical, safe, and organized country in the world!

Ya, no need for organised tour at all. If not, u will finish most of Singapore in 3 days and then u won't know what to do for the next 2 days. Moving around Singapore is so easy that u don't have to worry about transportation at all. If u finished most of attractions on the mainland, u can go to changi village and catch a bumboat ride to Pulau Ubin where u can spent half a day in the real nature of Singapore. Enjoy your stay.
