Hey all
Just wondering if anyone has completed a homestay program? I am considering this as a 6 month break from university. The only decent website i have found is www.homestayfinder.com which has a huge choice (however none in croatia where i really would like to go).
If you have done such a thing, what country did you visit and what was good about these. I was thinking along the lines of Spain, Croatia, France, Portugal or Fiji
thanks a lot

hey
sort of where you live with a host family for a while. Either you pay for accomodation or you work for it. Maybe i wasnt using the right word, but you get me.

Hello Jereminho
I usually avoid homestays, because i like my space.
I was in Todos Santos, an Indian village, in the mountains, in Guatamala. There were 2 schools, there, for foreigners to learn Spanish. Students of the school, usually stayed, in the house, of an Indian family.
It does not need to be booked, in advance. There are usually plenty of places. One only has to visit one of the Spanish schools, and enquire.
I dont know anything, about homestays, in the countries, u have listed.

i have not stayed in a homestay place as a traveller, however back home in australia we hoted for a few. we looked after them and helped them out, and they often thanked us with wicked gifts and lifelong friendship. if you get the right host it cant be an awesome experience!
