Oh dear...... Julie and Sarah..... you are arriving at the very worst time without already having had accom booked.

You could try a site called Wotif. Here is the site addy:

They give lots of different types of accom and also special deals for last minute bookings. I have used them often and find that they are good.

Good luck you two and HAVE FUN whilst you are here. If I can help in any other way please let me know.

With regards

I booked hostel reservations for Sydney back in July and it was a nightmare. $80 per night. The Schoolhouse Backpackers

Oh Julie & Sarah - l dont envy you - l think you MIGHT be lucky and get a bed in a dorm room if you act quickly - we booked back in March and whilst there were rooms it wasnt easy to get what l wanted.

Have you tried; google hostles in Sydney and see what you get. It might be an idea to actually ring the establishments cos sometimes having a more personal chat with someone can be fruitful and even if that particular establishment has no rooms they may be able to point you in the direction of somewhere which has?

Good luck!

I can relate to being disorganized girls ;), but finding accomodation in Sydney around Christmas and New Years is a nightmare. My friends ended up getting an appartment for two weeks, maybe you want to look into that short term rent in Sydney. Good Luck!

you might seem a bit desperate lol but im sure somebody will.....oh yeah the point of my posting in this thread...

there is a website called couchsurfing ( which basically lets you either host your couch for other traveller or surf another locals couch...the general idea of the site is more to see the locals perspective of the place your visiting as apposed to the touristy side of things...and of course just to meet new people and have a good time!

i reccomend checking out the site

Im just as disorganised, was pulling my hair out yesterday but managed to book YHA in Dulwich Hill, Sydney. It sounds a bit out of the way and is not ideal but you could try there.

Does anyone know this area?
How difficult will it be to get to the Harbour on NYE and Bondi on Xmas day?

Travelling alone so all advice welcome.

Thank you very big :)
