Internal Flights Within Peru

Travel Forums Central/South America & The Caribbean Internal Flights Within Peru

Hi everyone,

I will be staying in Peru for three weeks with my girlfriend and i just have a quick question regarding internal flights from Lima to Arequipa, Arequipa to Cusco, and Cusco back to Lima.

Does anyone know if it is possible to book these flights upon arrival to Peru and if so how easy is it to get tickets? All tickets would be one way and for two people.

I have tried booking online with Apunake but there was a few glitches with the online payment which was a shame as the prices with LAN Peru were quite reasonable.

Any help or comments would be appreciated.

Many Thanks

You can buy the air tickets in Lima (airport) from Lima to Arequipa/Cusco.

There are several air lines with differents time to departure.

You might buy the ticket to the next day after your arrive in Lima.

Why go flying? It's polluting, expensive, and most of the time not even that much quicker than taking a bus.

Go by bus, that's the way to experience SA.

I agree, if you have the time bus it. Its just such a great way to see the continent. When you fly you miss out on so much great scenery, not to mention those bus stops in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere little towns. Unforgettable stuff! :)

Thanks to everyone for all your feedback on this issue, i take your point about the pollution and advantage of seeing a lot more by bus, however if there was any other quick alternative such as taxi or train then for sure i would take it but a plane journey is one hour or so and a bus trip would be anywhere between 8 and 12 hours so my hands are tied on this one.

However when im in Peru we will be taking shorter trips within towns by bus so i will be able to base any future opinions on fact rather than all the information i have read in travel guides and forums.

Many thanks again
