Hi all. I am moving from Salt Lake City to Dallas the last weekend of January. It is not only my first long road trip, it's my first non-local move. I guess what I'm hoping for is information about what to expect for the drive (driving a 16' penske truck with a towed car from SLC to Cheyenne to Albuquerque to Dallas) weather wise and ease of driving wise I guess. And also tips about how to make this as easy and stress free as possible. Also, any tips about cool places to see along this route (I-80 to Cheyenne and I-25 from there to Albuquerque). Basically, anything you can tell me!

Wow! You have quite a change coming. I will look for more information, but for right now, Cheyenne to Dallas is a two day trip if you are driving alone, and especially with the load you will have. Interstates 25 and 40 are great routes and they travel well, then you will have to drop down around Amarillo and take US287 for the last several hours. Are you traveling alone or with family? Pets? We'll get you here. - Rebecca

Yeah. I've made the trip from ABQ to DAL before. Not a bad haul. I will be traveling with my significant other. Actually, I'm from Dallas and I'm flying out to Salt Lake, helping him load the truck and then we're driving. I figured we'd leave early Friday morning and take 80 to Cheyenne and then 25 down to Denver. Stop in Denver for the night and then drive from there to ABQ to visit my mother for the night and then make the long haul of the trip (ABQ to DAL) on Sunday.

I guess the biggest thing I'm worried about is the weather along 80 and 25 and the road conditions I will face. Never having driven a large truck and really with NO winter driving experience...
