Hello andyt

I often get nervous, before travelling too, and i have been doing it, for years. Everything will be OK. Thailand is a lovely peaceful place. U wont have much trouble. Well, u may get a little too much attention, from the women there(presuming your are a guy, because your name is andy). But that is the only real hassle.

That is certainly a healthy budget. I was in Thailand recently, with my daughter. We did not even spend half of what u have to spend, between the two of us. In 30 days, we spent around 400 euros, between the two of u. And that includes train and boat and bus tickets.

Just fly to Bangkok. Go downstairs at the airport, and get the bus, into the city. All the passangers on the bus, will probably be foreigners. It will take u to right beside the khao san road, for 150bahts. Very easy. And they will make sure u get out, at the right place. There will be lots of foreigners there, and lots of guesthouses, and lots of restaurants, where the staff speak English. Just start travelling and the nervousness will soon melt away. Well, that is how it usually happens, with me.

It seemed like a simple plan 6 months ago, and it still is. Thailand is nothing to be worries about. Just go and enjoy. And listen to Mel's advice - hop on a bus to Koa San and everything will be alright.
