Just wondering whether anyone knows any really good outdoor shops in Yorkshire? In particular im looking for somewhere that has a massive selection of backpacks to try. I have been to the usual millets and blacks etc and they never seem to have much. I am in east yorkshire so preferably somehwere near there but i am prepared to travel.

Can you get to Sheffield? CCC Outdoors, near the Sheffield United Football Ground is good. Great selection. There are branches in Sheffield and Wakefield. They sell all sorts of stuff. You can get a card for £3 which gets you 10% off for a year. I also think you can buy online.

Your living in East Yorkshire, ok it's been a while since i've been up that way (a bit too long, lovely area of the UK).
I remember that there are a few good shops in Hull, Scarbourgh, and Bridlington also had one. But it sounds like you might have already been, so like Clara stated Sheffield, Leeds or York might be your best bet.

I'd have a look on the web to see where they exacly are, most stores also have stock listings so you don't waste your time traveling.

Good luck, hope you find what your looking for.

If you can get to Castleford (think its around junction 33 on M62) then go to the ski slope xscape theres a few outdoor shops in there - the prices are a bit more I found but you can find the backpack you want then buy it on the internet

The best by far, run by a fantastic old couple is the Rydale Rambler in Pickering. They know their stuff, it's packed with good brands not commercial rubbish and they don't try to offload everything on to you. They're very honest and give good tips.
