Hi, I'm a young, white, blonde girl staying in nairobi for 3 days and I just wanted advice on whether it was safe to go out by myself during the daytime. My hotel has a pool but the weather is not great at the moment and I would love to see some of the sights. I have already been to the elephant orphanage but would love advice on where else to visit and if it would be safe for a young girl on her own. Thanks so much and happy new year!

There are so many places that you can visit while in Nairobi like the Nairobi National park ( this has to be 0rganised trip), the giraffe centre to view and feed the rothchild giraffe, the bomas of Kenya if you are interested in traditional dancing and snakes park.

You can also visit the city market where we sell curios and tropical flowers.

Incase you need more information please do not hesitate to contact me.

Afri child.

you will be fine if you:
(1) Dont wear anything flashy eg watches, sunglasses or expose your ipod/mobiles whilst on the street.

(2) Don't go out on foot after dark

(3) will be extra-vigilant when you are in crowded places such as bus stops, inside public transport, or walking in the down-town streets where there are hawkers selling their wares on the pavements

(4)try where possible to operate in a group; and not be alone

(5)are in a high stste of alert when stepping into the street out of a banking hall/ forex bureau or ATM (Cash machine)

Good Luck!

hey.You are well safe in the Nairobi streets. visit the Animal orphanage, The safari walk, the Nairobi national park. Drive to the Riftvalley view point for that stunning scenery of this great valley.bacause you are young hopefully adventurous, try the F2 or carnivore for music.
If you floss your wealth around, you are nuts. you are your safety. Goodluck.

Hello, nice to hear you would like to visit around Nairobi. First you need to go to KCC and climb top the roof, it has a wonderful view of the whole of Nairobi, also Museaims, American bomb site, Kasuri beads for wonderful hand made beads, giraffe centre and of course Bomas of Kenya for cultural dance. A dinner at carnover is memorable. In case you need any help drop me aq line.

Hello Gappy

Yes, walk around alone. But I recommend, that u only do it, during day light hours. Nairobi is a very dangerous city.

Although, when u are walking around, u will get endless attention. Gets a bit tiresome. Make your mind up, to be good humoured and smiley but evasive, with everybody(the locals, I mean) who tries to get your attention. It is the best way.

And, as somebody said above, dont wear jewelery. Not even fake gold or whatever looking jewelery. An dont have a camrea hanging around your neck. In fact, dont have any valuables, on view at all.
