Hi i'll be arriving in Sydney on the 18th - meeting my bofriend who is already out there. At the mo he is at a backpackers hostel which isnt exactly ideal as he's in dorms!

Plus they are fully booked so no room for me! So we are looking for somewhere to stay in MANLY or near by fairlight, queenscliff etc.

Even if its only for a week or so till we find somewhere else.. does anyone have a room for rent or know of any hostels taht do double rooms so we dont have to stay in dorms??
All help appreciated!

I'm checking gumtree everyday but if anyone could let me know of other similar sites that woulod help too!
Thanks in advance!!

Randomly checking hostels I know of in Sydney which have online availability checking, the only one I see having a double room available for a week starting on the 18th is the Glebe YHA. Awesome hostel, but not really close to Manly.
Looking at the Sydney hostels and Sydney budget hotels pages here on travellerspoint, I see several which also have double rooms available; don't know which ones are located where, but could very well be that at least one of them will be close enough to be acceptable - you'll have to do that research yourself, though.

When I am travelling I tend to use a site called You could try that.

Also - even though it is school holiday time and also peak period you could possibly try caravan parks. Not what you want possibly but you are going to have problems I feel being the time of the year when everything is booked solid.

Possibly it would be an idea to look outside of Sydney and travel in on the particular days you want if you are on a strict budget.

Hope you find something. Have a great time over here.

With regards

You may also want to go and check I just checked for 18th January for a week, and out of 57 places in and around Sydney, only 3 have any sort of problems with no vacancies at all. Even those on some of the dates they have vacancies but other dates are booked out in that one week. That is for hostels, and undoubtely they'd be dorm rooms that have the vacancies, but a lot of hostels home mixed dorms so you could find a room that you'd be able to stay in the same room. So if you were willing to stay somewhere other than Manly in the Sydney area, and were also open to relocating after a few days to another hostel you'd be able to find a place if you didn't hold off booking, because the few places I checked how many vacancies they had, it was starting to get within a few beds of the mixed dorms and in one hostel (Asylum Sydney) which is in Kings Cross, it had a vacancy everynight for the week you'd be there in the double room with shared bathroom. So maybe if you aren't finding anything in Manly you might need to open up your options a bit more if you specifically want a double room and not a mixed dorm.

Our advice is turn up and look around. Loads of hostels get cancellations at the last minute.. we booked two beds for over new year three days before we arrived... and we stayed for a week in Alfreds Park Acc... its not a great hostel but its on the bus route to Coogee beach and is 5 mins walk from town. As for the double room bit.. dont do it, they charge you heaps for a double and if you need some Loving, be a skank and if they have private showers, do it in there! We do and its GGGrrreat!
