Star this if you like it!
Hi guys,
I am planning to be in Puerto Iguazu in the next couple of weeks and from there I will be travelling to Salta by bus. As it looks like such a long journey, I was hoping to take an overnight bus from Iguazu to Corrientes, spend the day in Corrientes then take another overnight bus from Corrientes to Salta.
Do you know whether this is possible? And if so, which bus company/companies would offer these routes?
Many thanks,
Jenni

Hi Jenni!
It's not an easy itinerary, but you can do it in 3 stages. I'll give you an alternative, with Andesmar (www.andesmar.com):
1-Leave Puerto Iguazú at 21:30 and arrive in Corrientes at 6:44. The price is around usd25
2-From Corrientes leave at 19:30 to San Martin de Tucuman, you'll arrive at 7:30. The price is around usd30
3-From there to Salta you have a 4hour ride, many time options and it's around usd15
If you want, instead of going to San Martin de Tucuman you can stop in Termas de Rio Hondo. But once there, you should take a 1hour bus ride to Tucuman to get into a bus to Salta.
You can call Andesmar and ask. I'm sure there are more companies, and if there's a better route they'll tell you.
Hope it helped!

Hi Jenni and thanks for your post.
It's an amazing journey the one you're planning... My advice is as follows.
Since Iguaçu is about 380 miles away from Corrientes, my advice is that you take the latest bus you can from Iguaçu in order to get some sleep aboard...
I will take some 7 hours.
From Corrientes to Salta, I know that the company El Norte Bis, check this link for availability and schedule...

Try to avoid having to spend the night in Corrientes; options for accom are xtremely limited.

Umm....with all that work, I think you should just fly from Iguazu to Jujuy and take a bus to Salta. You're there to enjoy life, not to suffer through sleepless nights on the bus and contemplating whether you would get to the right place or not.

I fully disagree; the trip is an interesting one, as it takes you through a truly beautiful part of Argentina. Besides, responsible travellers try to minimize their flying at all times, and this is just one of those stretches where hopping on board a plane is utterly unnecessary.
