I am leaving to London next week and really excited! I already have some job offers like store assistant, aftershcool childminder etc. Provided you know how to search the net and have a good communication skills, it's not tough to get a low-paying job in London. If you a genuine working holidaymaker who just wants to get a job that will allow to see UK fully, you will have no problem surviving there.

what is the relevant net that you hunt the job, I might need to change my current job next month....;)

There are no relavant sites, Simon, just a lot of blind net search! I started researching about London/UK about 4 months ago, when I applied for the visa. I also spend about an hour everyday looking up the net for new jobs. Just google "Jobs wanted London" and follow the results and browse them in your leisure. Some helpful sites were (google these terms) Guardian job portal, The Loot, Adoos, LondonJobs etc.

One idea Iis to search for major chain store job vacancies. For eg, I found out all the branches of KFC in London and sent them my resume. Basically, I just blindly emailed whatever UK company/store I could come across in the net. Out of the may be 300 emails I had sent in the past 3 months, may be around 10 must have replied back. None of them were even remotely related to my qualifications, all of them were for casual jobs - which is no problem for me, as I just want enough to money to pay for room and food ;)

Pity is, I got lots of seasonal job offers in retail. There vacancies are like salespeople in clothes shop, they will be paid basic pay, which is 5.5 pounds per hour. Since this is christmas, all shops are shorthanded and look for extra people. I even got offer to work as a temporary door-to-door postwoman in a suburban post office! Brrrr, that too in this cold! But anyway as I am leaving only next week, I'll miss the xmas season and all the partime job offers

Just curious, i'm working in a restaurant for now. But i just want to know whether it is the trend here that all tips is taken by the restaurant itself? Coz i thought we get to share the tips but it doesnt seem to be so.

Hi guys and gals

Just a small update.

Yesterday I called vfs(Singapore) to enquire about my application status.
The officer said that all the WHM decisions will be taken in January.

So just need to keep our finger crossed and hope for the best.

Best of luck to all who are waiting for the result and Congratulations
to all who has got the visa.
