Hi Hien,

Thank you very much for answering my question I feel much better now that I know I could still try UK if I want to. I read about the commonwealth country on a forum that's why I wanted verifications. I know it wasn't reliable lah.... 1 year is figuratively speaking too sorry for my lack of precision. ;)

Anyhow, I just wanna let you guys know that I really don't know if I will get the NZ visa as immigration have come back to me via email and want me to answer some online questionnaire. Anyone been been through this before? Does this mean I can forget about NZ now? :(

Gosh I feel like my life is slipping through my hand..........

As far as I can remember, birth certificate is not a requirement. You already have your passport to prove your citizenship. Well, it may be useful if you intend to get your parents as your sponsor and birth cert is one way to prove your relation. Birth cert is a very common official document. I don't think you need to have it translated as I'm sure the Visa Section in the British High Commission must have seen many of them already.

thanks to answer my question!!
i get some news from my friends..
someone grant a WHM visa has been refuse entry to uk!
the reason is the immigration officer said she applied this visa in malaysia so they cannot accepted!!!
i just curious is it have this law??
this is unfair for us if it is true!!

I don't quite understand the story. I think it would be helpful if you could get more specific information about that case and also be clearer in what you wanted to say. If possible, get it from the source instead of just hearing from other people.

Hundreds, if not thousand of Malaysians have entered the UK on WHM successfully.

Hello everyone, thanks to all of you for helping people out and share your experiences. I have gone through the whole forum and it gives such excellent tips that are so useful. Sorry for the long post but my situation is this:

I have completed my masters from a UK university in March 2007 and have volunteered for a year from 2005-2006, after which i came back to msia in 2006 and stayed to re-write my dissertation and submitted it online although i had a valid students visa and could have stayed in the UK. (I had started my masters much earlier than 2005, but had to re-submit which is why I only got my degree so late). After a year's gap I went back to the UK last year (2007) in the summer for my graduation. After coming back, I had applied for a WHM Visa in September 2007 (as before this I had no clue that WHM's existed) and had got an interview date for much later . At that point I had a two years visitor's visa valid till 2009. I recently got a letter stating that my whm interview has been re-scheduled for earlier date. After applying for my whm visa, I had also applied for a few jobs (one year contract) and got called for 2 interviews so that after i get my visa and am ready to go the uk i have a few interviews already lined up. Even though i did not get my whm and got called for the visa interview i made another trip to the uk in October 2007 as I didnt want to miss out on the two job interviews (one in October and the other in December) but unfortunately didnt get the jobs :(. I had stated in my application that i intend to travel for a month before i start looking for jobs and work for about a year and then travel for the rest of the time. I have also been a frequent travller to the UK and other countires- canada, usa etc.

Do you think it is good that my visa interview has been brough forward, i mean earlier than what it was supposed to be? I only got to know about the re-scheduling of interview of visa when i had come back from UK. Also reading about my situation do you guys think I've jeopardized my chances of getting the visa or in fact it is good because it will help me to prove that i was actually interested in travelling and then taking up work and that I will come back at the end of the whm visa? Although when I went again, I did not travel before the interview, I just thought that I should take a chance and if i do get any of the two jobs, I might be able to get my visa interview forward. I just travelled to a few places in between the two interviews but havent got any tickets etc as proof, just some photos. Also If in interview i am asked why i went travelling again in october 2007 ie just 3 months after i had come back from uk, what should i tell them? if i tell them i had job interview, it would reduce my chance of get the visa because it wont show my intention to travel. Please someone help me, i really confused. :(:( Have i ruined my chances of getting a WHM visa just because i travel to uk twice in 2007 just a few months before my visa interview? but i didnt know that they will change the date of interview.

Dear AD1981,

Not only you are confused, i'm also .
i have questions for you:
1. what's the reason your whv application was not successful?
2. what is your main intention to go to UK, work or travel?
from what you have mention, i assume your main intention is to work for 1 year, doesn't matter you will be travelling or not right?
the whv main intention is for travellers to have an extensive stay upto 2 years in UK, work in only incidental to support your expenses there. yes, you are allowed to work for 1 year, but don't get confuse that whv is not a work visa.

Dear Taigra,

Thank you for replying back. I am sorry for that big post, I'll explain my situation in short and also answer your questions:

I have done my masters from the UK and also done some voluntary work. After that I was in msia for a year working with a company and last year in 2007 summer I went back to the UK on a visitors visa which is valid from 2007-2009 to attend my graduation. This visitors visa for 2 years, I had applied for it in April 2007. When I was in the UK last summer, I got to know about the Working holidaymakers visa and in September 2007 I applied for it. My application didnt get rejected but i got called for an interview and the date given to me was very late i.e. october 2008.

When I had applied for my whm visa i had also applied for some jobs because I wrote in my application that my intention was to travel first and then work for a year but my intention actually was to work there first, save up money and then go travelling. I got called for 2 job interviews and even though i had not got my whm visa, i still went to the UK again in october 2007, thinking that i should give the 2 interviews and if at all i get either of the jobs i will be able to bring my whm interview date forward. However I didnt get any of the jobs and came back to masia in december 2007. When i got back i had a letter from the visa office that my interview of visa has been preponed to april 2008. Now my problem is that last year i went to the uk twice and the gap between my two trips is very short. I am sure that the visa officer is goin to ask me why i went to the uk again in october last year. Although I did not know at all that my visa interview will be preponed, if I knew, I would have never gone to the UK in october for the second time. So am very worried because like u said, whm visa is mainly for travelling and taking up work which is incidental to holiday. Hence in my visa interview i cannot mention that i had gone again to uk in october 2007 to attend interviews because this does not prove that my main intention was to travel.

My Worries:

1)Can you suggest what I can say or do when the visa officer asks me why i went to the UK again after such a short gap?
2)Also am now worried that the officer might ask me why i applied for a WHM visa straight after coming back from travelling in the UK and especially when i had a valid visitors visa for 2 years till 2009 and I really cant understand what i am going to say?? because if my main intention is to travel after obtaining a whm visa, that can be done again and again as i have a valid visitors visa so why whm? am assuming that he/she may ask me this.
3) He/she might also ask me that if i already have done my masters in the uk and done voluntary work and have travelled to the uk 2 times recently in 2007 then why do i want to go to the UK again?
I really dont know how or what to say to answer these questions....

To answer your questions
1) my application did not get rejected, i got called for a visa interview so i really cant say why they called me for an interview. I am guessing because i applied soon after coming back from uk trip and because i had already got a valid visitors visa for 2 years.
2) My intention is to travel and work both. But I definately want to work first and then travel but I cannot say this to the visa officer who will interview me as this does not prove that my intentions to travel and take up work that is incidental to my travels.
Also am aware that this is not a work visa. I am requesting everyone to please help me with my current situation as i dont know how i'll answer the questions i have mentioned above and what i'll say. Please Please help me..I dont want my visa application to be rejected :(
