what exactly do you mean by ex-pats tourism? I thought expats are people living in one country temporary or something?
But really, Cuba is just so nice, cultural as well as natural.
Typical for Cuba are of course all the old american 50's cars, I would go back just for that really. Also, lots of billboards around the country are amazing, and hooking up with a guide offering a walk around a city and talking about the country is great as well.
Don't go near the beaches at some resort areas.

I am also curious about "ex-pat tourism" since "ex-pat" usually refers to people from one country living and working (or retiring) in another. The two terms seem to conflict. But, on that note - there aren't a lot of American ex-pats living or visiting Cuba at the moment. Though, that is subject to change once Castro is gone...

Havana is absolutely beautiful - like no city I've ever seen. It's poor and crumbling, yet charming and real and without all the advertisements you see in any big city. It's worth the trip, definitely.

Cuba is a unique country but very different to Asian countries and more expensive as well.
