Just agreeing with other posters really, 2 weeks is definitely long enough to have an interesting holiday in Thailand, though realistically you'll probably have to choose between either mountainous north or beachy south.

Whoa if I have 2 weeks I'd be ecstatic!

I'm actually going there only for 6 days. I'm going to Bangkok, Phetchaburi Province, Ko Chang and back to Bangkok for some shopping. I figured if I don't sleep I'd get to do all the things in my list. Haha! Just kidding.

So a few weeks in Thailand, do you think that it would be a good idea to pick up some Thai before getting there? I don't speak any Thai now, but probably would want to before getting there, which won't be for a few years though.

Hello Abesworld

I think, knowing a few words of Thai, would enhance your trip to Thailand.
If I had more ability with language learning, I would try, to learn more languages. As it is, I am really struggling with just learning German and Spanish.

two weeks in bangkok isnt worth it, but two weeks in thailand is. Probably 4 days in Bangkok is as much as you would go for tourism in bangkok.

I think 2 weeks is a bit much. Yes-the food's great and the shopping is amazing, but there so many wonderful things to do in other parts of thailand. Personally, I really love the province Kanchanaburi. It's sooo beautiful. There are beautiful waterfalls that are, like, 8 stories. the water is light blue...swimming in it is like being in a dream. You are surrounded by the lush green forests...and the rivers are beautiful. you can take a boat down the river...! check out pictures of it, and you'll see what i mean. Not many people go to that area of thailand, which i think is a shame. The beaches in the sout are amazing, too. Go to Krabi..take a day trip...a tour of all the beautiful islands. i went many years ago, but i still remember everything so clearly. it's absolutely beautiful-water's warm, really clear, lots of tropical fish.!

i love thailand!

I think Bangkok get a bit of a bad rap. Sure if you only have 2 weeks then there are better places to be, but you can see alot of Thailand and Asia there. Forget Patpong and Ko San, get into the high tech Silom and Sukumvit, Chinatown seafood and shopping, Little India fabrics and food, weekend market(biggest in SEA) as well as temples everywhere, good (legit) massages at Wat Po and great clubbing in RCA.
Depends on what you are into, every time I pass through I seem to find more good stuff to do.
That said-don't miss the south(or the North.....)
