Where are they? I am after the kind of markets that sell fake things and local produce etc? Do they have a name or are they just refered to as 'the markets'? Are there loads of different areas or just one main one? Thanks
Bangkok markets
The biggest market in Bangkok is Chatuchak weekend market. It has over 6000 stalls and sell everything from live fish to ornamental goods. However if your looking for fake clothing such as ralph lauren, lacoste shirts etc then i would suggest patpong night market, where there is a massive selection of dodgy designer gear.
Hi,
whole Bangkok is full with fake things & local produce, you'll find it almost anywhere - at Silom Rd, Sukhumvit Rd, Khao San, Patpong Nightmarket, Suan Lum Night Bazaar, ...
Another good market is Pratunam Market in Petchburi Road where also lots of street vendors buy the goods they later sell in the above-named streets.

Chatuchak market is great, don't miss it! But be prepared to get lost in there on numerous occasions
I'm planning on visiting the Chatuchak Weekend Market myself. It is located at Talat Nat Jatujak. Open from 8am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday. You could get there by Skytrain get off at Mo Chit station or by subway Chatuchak Park station.
Based on the Lonely Planet Guide the Soi Lalaisap Market has some name-brand factory imperfections. It's at Soi 4 Th Silom and is open from 8am to 6pm. Ride the Skytrain to Chong Nonsi. The guide also says you could find knock-off bags and watches (among other things) at the Th Sukhumvit Market. It's at Th Sukhumvit between Soi 2 & 12, 3 & 15. It's open from 11am to 10:30pm. Ride the Skytrain to Nana.
Let me know which market is the best as I'm visiting Thailand in May. Happy shopping!
Can you guys recommend where I could buy large size Thai clothing? My sister only saw one stall that sells plus sizes and it's in the Pratunam Market. I wonder where the other ones are.
If you are looking for cheap, fake goods, then the sidewalk night markets on Sukhumvit (roughly, between Sois 3 and 11) and Patpong (beween Silom and Suriwong Roads) are your best bet. Chatukchak can be sheer hell on weekends. It's packed with thousands of shoppers - and pickpockets. Have fun but be careful. I don't find it comfortable at all:it's elbow to elbow congestion there on most afternoons. If you do go, take the subway and get off at the Kampaeng Phet station. That lets you out right in the middle of the market. The Chatuchak Park station is a much further walk.
Or take the sky train to "mochit" station and ure right there as well.!
