Finally there is the hardcore travelling nut who normally can be found wandering around India barefoot without a clue where hes going, where hes come from or generally who he is! He left home looking for a rite of passage in a bid to find himself but somewhere along the drug fuelled way totally lost all sense of time and reality.

I have been travelling for years. I always have a lonely planet book, with me.
It is not so much a bible, as a guide. It has useful information about health and safety, and about money and climate and how to behave towards people in various countries etc etc. And it is all in one book. Imagine how much time it would take to discover this information by trial and effort. It would also be tedious to have to google all this info, when I can just read it all from one book.
