Hi guys
Well it's 9 days and counting until I leave for Caracas. I'm looking for a hotel in or near Petare so that I can be close to the Terminal del Oriente. I've done a good search on here and the internet but can't find what I'm looking for. An alternative would be to stay near to the airport and travel from there the morning after we arrive.
Does anybody have any suggestions? I hadn't really planned to go into the city of Caracas as I'm quite keen to make my way south towards Santa Elena before entering Brazil.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Paul

hi... it isnt a good idea ok? listen to me... i dont recommend you to stay in petare =S that's toooooo ugly. That's a really bad zone of caracas. There's no hotels... n-e way, you cant stay in La guaira (near to the airport) it's too far away from the terminal of oriente. You have to tell me where do you go?! and what do you want to do....

OK I'm arriving in Caracas at around 3 in the afternoon and plan to catch a bus towards Santa Elena. I think we might break the journey by stopping at Ciudad Bolivar/Ciudad Guyana. I understand the buses depart from Terminal del Oriente at 3pm and 5pm therefore it looks like we may have to catch the bus the following day.
Like I said I wasn't planning on going into the centre of Caracas but at the same time I don't want to just land in Venezuela and leave without seeing something of the country.
The main problem for me at this point is where to stay after arriving and before travelling to the bus terminal for the onward journey. Would I be able to stay at the hotel near the airport and arrange for a private taxi to pick us up and take us to the bus terminal?
Also is it worth getting a bus to Barcelona and spending a day there?
Thanks
Paul
