got three weeks, and two flights to take, in australia over xmas and new year 2007.

Where should I go?

How much can I cram in?

I want a bit of culture and relaxation ideally.

depends where you are. Austrailia is larger than some planets. If you're out by the barrier reef/queensland coast, rent yourself a camper mate! I had a blast road-tripping through Daintree Park, and through the interior a bit. Make sure your vehicle is 4wd and has a fording snorkel because a lot of roads go right through rivers.

Aus is truly an adavanced culture. They put cool cups on their beer and they really trust one another. and the girls are hot!

If you are thinking of Dec/Jan ( l was there Dec/Jan just past) maybe Sydney for fireworks on NYE - get out into Hunter Valley, Blue Mountains, hire car head up coast Byron Bay direction and fly down to Melbourne spend a few days in the city, hire car head out along the Great Ocean Road spending a few nights along the way and after you get back to Melbourne go down toward Philip Island and see the penguins!

3 weeks isnt long and Australia has so much too do l would pick a couple of areas and explore them otherwise your holiday wont have much relaxation!

Also bear in mind during this time of year the weather is generally better down south so anywhere above Brisbane (and its equivalent on West Coast) is likely to be hit by the rainy season.

yeah, very wet up north that time of year. It depends on what you want to see. The waterfalls up around Cairns in the atherton tablelands are magic that time of year after a big downpour. The victorian coast is nice over new years. adelaide is probably underated, they have awsome beaches over there.

For relaxation, anywhere in the country! we're always relaxed here!

Am yet to make it to the west coast, but from talking to other travellers, it sounds great over there.

You will be wishing for more than 3 weeks by the end tho.
