Hi all,

Strange one here. My girlf and i are from manchester in the UK and are currently in Sydney for the next 5 weeks working and we need some fun! We used to love going out back at home and used to go clubbing etc but i havent managed to find any clubs playing our kind of music. Is there anyone from the UK in sydney who could recommend places to party? is it possible to get out of it here? Havin no luck at all... anywhere.. any suggestions.

What kind of music do you listen too?

I suppose ive been fairly spoiled when it comes to DJ's etc.. we lived near Sankey Soaps in manchester and regularly went to see Erik Morilo, Krafty Kuts, Underworld, Groove Armada, Dj Sneak 2 many DJ's
the list is endless...i guess we really want the same sort of stuff. Something you can have a good dance to but isnt cheesy. i dont know what they call it.. ermm kind of House but with deeper bass lines and more funk to it.. oh and i love soul, jazz, indie.

I'm heading to Sydney this June and have been doing a bit of homework.

Hopefully this site will help you out.

fuckin ey juswt need to look a bit harder methinks lol. me personally i like a bit o dnb but thats hella hard to find and i thought that all the music u just mentioned was too easy to find. unless ur just goin to backpacker places like scruffy murphys or the side bar :/

try home on a friday night. they normally have some big names and on a friday night theres like hardcore dance stuff. but i mean even if u dont like that theres gotta b at least 10 other rooms playing things from house to live bands playin some indie. otherwise your best bet is the cross (kings cross that is) i recommend moulin rouge which plays some fairly underground house or candys which refuses to play anything commercial. and is also in the house variety. i dont really know many famous dj's to b fair but ive had a fuckin great time at all of the above mentioned places...

OK, so this I am very qualified to comment on!
Some of my friends are pretty big names around the Sydney/NSW/Austrlai and even world wide circuit.
I fly for a month of partying and surfing on 6th March, so if you are still about and need a guide feel free to contact me!

If you like your house and electro beats, preferably the dirtier and funkier side then you will have a ball!

I will list a few places you can check out and websites of some DJ's and such fourth.

Places to check out include, Tank, YU, Home, Arthouse, Cherrijam, Cabana Bar, Opera Bar.

Some friends sites/myspaces. Check out their diaries...........
This guy is awesome! Plays worldwide for Hed Kandi and Ministry, speant the summer touring Europe. Check him out at CherriJam would be a good bet.
Another friend of mine, tears up the decks with funky house and dirty electro beats, also a member of the great Martini Club, check them out at Hugo's.

Here are a few DJ's/Performers pages I would check out and see where they are playing.................

Hope this has been of some use! As I said feel free to contact me if you got any questions. One week until I am there, cannot wait!
