Hi there!

Where are the nicest (clean sand, crystal water, not many tourists) beaches in spain?
Is the climate nice late April?

Hi Sam,

Spain has very clean and crystal water beaches, specially in the islands. I don't know how many time are you going to stay, but April and May are good months to make a good trip. The weather is nicer than in Summer and the good places cheaper and less crowded. But if you are going to dive or swim, it can be a little bit cold, in the Atlantic side. In the Mediterranean side I'd recommend you Balearic Islands, specially Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. The last one has beautiful beaches with transparent water, white sand with little bits of coral. The east coast of Andalusia is also nice, Cabo de Gata, in Almeria, is an underwater-national-park. There are also beautiful white towns, and is not so far from Granada. Cadiz also has nice spots.
The Atlantic side is nice specially If you like surfing. Mundaka, in the Basque Country, has one of the best surfing waves in europe. The Canary Islands in the west coast of Africa, are amazing for both diving and surfing. Tenerife, Lanzarote, Hierro (UNESCO Biosphere Reserve designation, and home of natural swimming pools and crystal clear watersor) are sub tropical volcanic, and beautiful laid back islands.

Hope it helps.
have a good trip.

In the north east there are very nice beaches, specially near the french border, in towns like El Port de la Selva, Llançà or Colera. Just after crossing the french border, after Portbou, you have some nice ones as well.

Anyway, unless you're gonna scuba dive, the water will definitely be too cold for you to swim in at the moment, or even in april and may. In that zone at least.
