I'm reading all of these blogs and nobody even mentions Uruguay. I'm going in 3 days and was wondering if anyone had any advice?

I'll be in Montevideo for 3 days then I plan on going to Colonia de Sacramento for 2 days and back to Montevideo for 1 day and then head to Punta del Este for 2 days and back to Montevideo. And Advice on "Must See's"?

Colonia's nice, but one day is more than enough. Four days total in Montevideo seems a bit much to me; there isn't that much to see (I've been there for 2 days a couple years ago, and that was plenty for me).

The part of Uruguay I liked most is the inlands; Durazno and Trinidad are nice. Very quiet; good places to reload your travelling batteries.

Montivedeo was pretty nice and we has 2 days in Colonia, but supposedly some place on the border of Brazil (Diablo?) is supposed to be really good.
Very laid back and mainly uncommercial.

Only visited Colonia and I thought that was a great colonial (what's in a name) town, but enough for 1 day for sure.

i've just found this website, it has an english version
i went to uruguay many years ago, about 10 years ago, and what i liked the most was a house between punta del este and montevideo (near piriapolis) called casapueblo. It's built by an sculptor called carlos paez vilaros, i think it's an hotel and restaurant now and i'm not sure if you can visit it, but i think you can.. it's white and has incredible shapes, and has an incredible view over the atlantic ;)

Was there last year,
enjoyed most the small villages,Punta del Diablo and Cabo Polonia in the dunes, and the endless beaches between the Brasilian Border and Montevideo.
Montevideo,2-3 days is enough
Colonia,the old part only
all the other places I have visited, nothing to wright home about...

I was in Montevideo for 5 days and it was even then perhaps too long. Lovely place but wouldnt bother staying more than few days.
