Star this if you like it!
I am flying into Athens in September and plan to spend a few days there before hopping around some of the Greek Islands, then down to Alexandra, Egypt and up to Turkey finishing up in Istanbul. I have about 24 days to do this, Is it possible to get a ferry from one of the greek islands down to Egypt and then travel by the same method up to Kusadassi, Turkey or somewhere nearby??
Appriciate anyones advice.
Also if anyone can recommend, must see's etc that would be great too

There isn't a ferry from Greece to Egypt at the moment, so you'll be scuppered there (the ferry service has been suspended indefinitely). When there was a ferry it was cheaper to fly Athens to Cairo than to take it (it went via Cyprus), so unless you really object to flying, and you want to go via Syria and Jordan, you might be better off looking for an airfare.

Thanks, so perhaps Greece - turkey - egypt is a better route!

I'm planning to visit these countries too... plus Jordan. My plan is to fly from SoCal to London, get tix there to fly to Cairo. From Egypt travel overland to Jordan and then fly to Turkey. And from Turkey, paddle a canoe to Greece. How's that for a plan?

It all depends on how long you people have to travel, but if you have about 2 months you can travel the whole trip overland, so Cairo to Istanbul or visa versa, or on to Greece for the people who want that.
Lots of places to visit in Syria as well, great country. Lebanon as well, but maybe not a good idea these days.

yeah, grecce - turkey - egypt is much smarter. if you are hopping around the greek islands, you can get a ferry from kos to bodrum that takes about 20 mins. bodrum is the craziest seaside party town in turkey, make sure you are there between april and november. it will go off i promise you. from there you can easily see kusadasi and ancient city ephesus, then head towards egypt. coaches are the way to go in turkey, for gods sake stay away from the trains!!!

Kinda sucks you can go straight to Egypt from Crete now. You have plenty of time for overland travel so I definitely agree with Utrecht

Greece-Turkey-Egypt is a better route. You can get a ferry from Samos to Kusadasi. It was twice a day duriğng summer but I don't know the spring schedule. Then, fly from Izmir (city nearby Kusadasi) to Istanbul and take a flight to Cairo.
There are cheap flights from Sabiha Gokcen Airport, Istanbul. I flew Egypt Airlines last year and it wasn't bad.
Be ready for pollution in Cairo, it's pretty bad.
