Well that's that - spoke to the doctor and, after much discussion and wrangling, he prescribed me with a 3month supply of 50mg Doxy tablets. So that everything done b4 i leave (i hope ;))

Ya know - I think they enjoy the whole begging thing!
That's one more thing you can scratch off the "To Do" list and you are set for the first 3 months of your trip.

Slightly concerned about this sensitvity to sunlight thing as it says on the box to avoid direct sunlight ! Kinda defeats the purpose of getting away from Scotland! Don't normally burn easily but i have got factor 25 sunscreen just to be safe.

Ah, come on... Are you trying to say Scotland isn't the tropical paradise everyone says it is this time of year?? Damn! I was all ready to get out the sand buckets and shovels.

The SPF-25 should be sufficient protection as you work on that nice tan. You can decrease the factor as time passes. I think you will find, once you have gotten to your first destination, that you won't want to be in direct sun for very long anyway. It's hot. You're going to be traveling for some time so you can take things slowly and still enjoy the weather.

Icing on the cake was that, as i have quit my job to go travelling, the chemist said i did not have to pay for the tablets - result!

You scored!!!!!! At least that makes up for some of the wrangling you had to do to get the prescription. (Had you known that was going to happen - you should have gone for the Malarone! Kidding! It's not an OTC in most countries and still quite expensive.)

Have a great time, George! ;)
