I'm travelling throughout Europe this Summer (May and June), yay! The last leg of the trip will be Greece. I fly out of Athens and am wanting to spend some time on an island (or two). I don't want to go to Corfu or Santorini or Mykonos because I know there will be a lot of college students partying. I can party here in Miami.
I want to go somewhere quite where it will just be me and the Greeks. Where can I go to avoid tourists? What is the best way to travel? Details would be SO much appreciated!
Thanks, guys!

Hi Shraby!!

EE! Greece is amazing. I went there a few years ago. We didn't go to many islands, We covered the mainland and some of Crete (and a bit of Santorini). Though while we were on Crete, there was a small town in the south of Crete named Myrtos that was quite nice. There were less tourists, more locals (indeed, some sat on stools outside their doors all day. Memories!!). It's close to a beach, so there were still some people - though the town next to Myrtos seemed more popular with the tourists. I suppose there were more restaurants or things to do or such. We stayed there only briefly before moving on. I found Myrtos quite calm while we were there.

Anyway, good luck and have fun!!

Hi shraby!
I bet you cant wait to head off on your trip! :) I'm pretty much doing the same thing, off to Europe in May, will be travelling around and ending up in the Greek islands in July.
I was wondering though, what airline are you flying with to get to Athens? And from where?
I'm just curious, as we are flying to Athens from London, and are considering not booking our flights until we actually get over there, thinking that this will be cheaper?

Anyway, good luck with your travelling and keep counting down the days! :)

Hi Shraby:
May and June are still low season in Greece, I know because I live here and even made a web site about it which has won several awards why not check it out?

College students go mostly to Ios which is also a wonderful island and partying in Greece is different from partying in Miami or anywhere else for that matter. You will have fin so quit worrying!

I would like first to know whether you are travelling by yourself, by you significant other or with agroup of friends.

Anyway if you like an quiet but really nice island I would suggest Sifnos and Folegandros.

On the other hand Santorini is really really beautiful and it you shouldn´t miss it.

I have information for both Sifns and folegandros in case you need.

Also, this time of the year is low season and only in Mykonos on weekends would be crowded.
