Hi everyone
I am going to be travelling from Santorini to Turkey at the start of June. The rough plan is to go from Rhodes to Marmaris by ferry, then travel around Turkey from 4th-20th, ending up in Istanbul. I'd like to see Capadocia and Gallipoli but not too fussed about the route etc. Happy to go with the flow a bit really.
As a solo female traveller I am interested in meeting up with others along the way. Also, if anyone has any tips for must-see places (and conversely should-avoid places!) please let me know. I am really looking forward to this adventure!

for major cities that I most liked I've made a topic in here. You can have a look to the cities and then to the map. That will be the easiest way to create a route.

You've 16days. Let's say 15. Use busses, both cheap and really comfortable. Train is much cheaper but rail network is not sufficient.

I may suggest you to follow
Marmaris 4 days (sea, beach club..)
also you may go to close attractions like Bodrum or make day trips to close villages you'll see in first post of the link.
Denizli 2 days (Pamukkale)
Konya 1 days (Mevlana) but first you should learn the philosophy of Mevlana
Nevşehir 1 days (Kapadokya)
and in return,
Ankara 2 days Anıtkabir, cheap shopping, big malls, large avenues etc. you know it's the capital.
Çanakkale 1 days it makes your way a bit longer... but worth to see.
İstanbul min4 days see here for a brief programme that I've made for my friends going there during christmas in 2006.

also there are some others, like Ephesus, İzmir in west or Mardin in south east Turkey, Antalya in south, blacksea region... maybe in your next Turkey trip ;)

have a nice days in there.. these cities are safe. only in Istanbul, you should be careful as much as Paris. unless you go to silent and dark districts during the night, you're safe. ;)

check, especially for major cities. otherwise it's pretty hard to adapt transportation systems, find local attractions etc. after I live in Europe, I understand that Turkey has a lot of fun comparing many country but really sucks in promote it.

feel free to ask more.

google fez travel. they are based in istanbul and are mainly aussie workers. i didn't go on the tour (i did my own tour around turkey by buses) but along the way i met people who did. i think the tour is a hop on and of bus tour (i.e you can spend a few days where you like and a bus comes once a day to go to the next city). It covers capadoccia and gallipolli as well as istanbul and i think pummakale. check it out
