Im just reading about a tragic killing of students in the US (32 people dead???? WTF????), and would like to open the debate on gun laws.

Your thoughts?

obviously the guy was a nutter, he was pissed off that his girlfriend had gone of with some other fella so decided to kil them, I mean, WTF!!!

But this wouldn't have been possible, or at least a lot more difficult, if he didn't live in a country where you can pick up a gun at the local K-Mart!

the gunlaw is from 1800. times have changed. I think is pathetic that guns are legal in the US. some people should open their eyes.

but no we all have the right to defend ourselves with a gun. gunshops should be everywhere. every psycho should be able to buy sophisticated guns...blablablabla. the gunlaw in US, it is such bullshit.

(I heard the freak put the people in a line and executed them...WTF, what a mental freak:(...probably another guy with post traumatic stress syndrome from one of the wars)

Gun laws are a bit laxy in the US...

But in saying that, who couldnt get their hands on a Gun if they really wanted 1?

I for 1 could walk out the door and within an hour have an illegal firearm in my hand.

If you want to kill someone bad enough you will get a gun. So cant see how Gun laws really make a big difference.

Im not from the US, so maybe its different watching from the outside.

Again, If the people from the US want their gun laws changed then NOW is the time to change them.

Back in 1989, a very disturbed man entered the École Polytechnique in Montreal and killed 14 women. After that, Canada started to put tighter gun laws and a gun registry into place. However, after the new Conservative government was voted in a few years ago, they essentially put a stop to the process - claiming it was a waste of time and money. Then a guy opened fire at Dawson college here downtown last September and the issue is back on the table.

You register you dog, cat, car, motorcycle, scooter, marriage, kids - it's only logical to register a machine designed ONLY for killing, no? Making guns hard to get will, at the very least, deter these kinds of disturbed people from picking one up in a fit of anger. As a civilized society, protecting citizens against guns should outweigh anyone's right to own a firearm.

I never said everyone was on hard drugs... Im just saying changing laws wont take the guns out of the system.

As you know 'Drugs' are legal in some countries (Yours for example).. Doesnt mean I have to go straight out and use them.

Well then Purdy, your lucky.. There arent many places left that arent affected by guns.
I am just saying that if you "Really" wanted to get your hands on a gun then its not that difficult.
