My sister showed it to me way back in the day... came for the information, stayed for the food.
Lentils are not food - they are just a weed that someone decided it's seeds were edible.
To this day, no one has ever answered my thread requesting information about Panama. But, one travel helper went above and beyond the call so I thank you Andrew. (Yes, I thanked him at the time too.)
Just bringing it back on topic after the lentils comment.

Oh, you stayed for the durian too?
As for the topic question, I was reading this weekly centrespread article in the newspaper about travelling three years ago. I found it interesting and it was just pure reading until I came across this section about finding travel companions on the internet. That got me curious and interested. So I googled and found travel sites and forums on travel companions. None of them really appealed to me until I came to Travellerspoint which was on page 3 or 4 of the google search results. Somehow, I found TP interesting enough for me to join right away (which is something that I rarely do).

I was strategizing my next career move and stumbled upon the site. Have been in same company for 10.5 years, involved in community and philantropy and currently not enticed by the money, galas, dinners, networking. Have traveled and would love to continue my 'second' career.

Lentils and Durian mixed in a nice smoothie are delicious! With a little almond milk and salsa

I think i was looking for a toilet and got lost.
But its too long ago to remember any details. Probably randomly.
I do remember the effort I made, and subsequent thrill of getting my 10th post after a couple of weeks to push me up to the next level of ranking though!

We've only been members for a little over 2 years. I liked the fact that there were questions that I could answer. My first post, after starting our thread about Panama, was in a thread started by kingwindle needing help with jabs and anti-malarials. I cruised around the forums for a few weeks before finally deciding to visit Off Topic. As Gelli stated (in the One Year thread) it was during Wocca's heyday so lots of new threads daily. I'm one of the guilty who only really played the word association games for another couple of weeks, then expanded.
We'd never been on a forum site until we joined TP so it was a bit scary in the beginning. It's still scary some days but for different reasons. We've stuck around because we have met really interesting people and made new friends. TP has also expanded our horizons. If it weren't for all of you, we wouldn't have gone to Montreal nor Ireland. (Damn it - you're making us travel! Stop it! There will be no more traveling!)
Isa leaves to go pack her suitcases so she and Beerman don't miss their flight to Florida on Thursday. Damn it! More traveling!

I needed a life. So I decided to join an online community, with faceless members from all over the world that I have little if any opporotunity to actually meet in real life.

I can't remember why I joined, but I stayed for the free martinis!
Not only to I get to share my travel stories over and over again, I've also made some great friends who keep me coming back - especially in the middle of a workday. I love catching up, hearing about people's adventures, helping out where I can, and having some place to go when I just need a break from whatever I'm working on. Plus I love to write, so that's a bonus!
This is the best-run, most interesting site I've ever been part of. The place is kept clean, respectful and friendly - a rare pearl in an otherwise disasterous world of online forums.
