Hi Moxxo,
I can't vouch for the East coast, but the West is v.good.
We started in LA and took the Pacific Coast Highway up from Santa Monica through San Jose, up to San Francisco. Then you can also go across to Yosemite and down to Vegas.
Only difficulty is time - distances are big, so squeezing everything into a short time can be hard. Pick your locations.:)

Hi Moxxo - that is a really tough question. The east coast and west coast are completely different in lanscape, culture and climate. I have lived mostly on the east coast, but I love exploring the west coast. Are you mostly interested in culture (e.g. museums, art, big city life?) or nature and lanscape? A drive along the California coast and in through the redwoods (the tallest trees in the world) is simply breathtaking. You can also visit vineyards in Napa Valley and Haight-Ashbury in San Franciso. Or Hollywood and LA. But on the east coast, you have New York which is obviously a must-see, DC - the nation's capital with tons of free museums, the gentile south and the lovely appilachian mountains, and of course Florida, the number one tourist destination in the world with awesome beaches. California's beaches are nice, but the water is usually too cold to swim and not very calm!! The east coast is more 'traditional' and the west coast is more 'progressive.' Both are great, so I don't know if I have helped you at all, but those are some things to think about! As you develop your thoughts more about this, I will be glad to help. Also - it depends on what time of year you would be travelling. If its winter, I would suggest the west, unless you like cold (or just want to stay in Florida the whole time!).
