having spent a few days in Kyiv in July 2018, I found it a wonderful city with some great buildings and lots to do. "Personal opinion"!

I'm heading back there soon, I found it fun and interesting. It helps that it's a visa-free capital city which is effectively Russian-speaking - the Cyrillic is challenging and adds interest, and for me it lets me practice my rusty Russian. Chernobyl is also a unique daytrip.

The vast majority of people like warm climes where you can go and shop till late every night.

There's usually a much happier vibe amongst the people in warmer climes.

Personal opinion but I'm not sure that's true - the "most liveable cities" surveys published every year by various companies often list cities in temperate zones amongst the best. As for shopping - I'm convinced there are many people who don't want to shop until late into the night.

Shopping is one aspect.
Enjoying bars, or seeing young children playing in the parks and plazas while their parents and grandparents are chatting along or playing cards or Bocce till late into the night enjoying the weather is something I'd rather be doing than being outdoors.
You day not everybody wants to be shopping till late ate night or maybe go to bars or enjoy the street life.
That's true.
But you can pretty much do anything you can in these cities as you could in a place like London.
But you can't say having these other things is a negative.
Quite the contrary.
The more you can enjoy a city. The better.
It's like me saying Madrid also has some superb museums but not everybody is into museums.
The more you can do in a city. The better.
And I'd really take these most liveable cities survey with a pinch of salt.
I can show you twenty different ones with very different outcomes.
There's usually some type of correlation involving the cities they choose.
And just about every country seems to have their own.

I don't know about cities but I did find Bled to be underwhelming. On the flip side I would day Sarajevo is an underrated city but that might have been because I had little expectation of the city.
