Hi, im currently trying to find the best and obviously "cheapest " travel insurance, my trip through asia and australia will be 18 months, so far i have been quoted £375 for the full 18 months, that has no excess to pay, and full cover for all sports. Is this expensive? does anyone recomend anyone to take out travel insurance with?

I just checked the insurance offered here in TP and got a quotation of £523.53 for a UK citizen to go on an 18-month trip worldwide (excluding USA, Canada, the Carribean and Japan).

Check it out here and compare the coverage of both and then see which one is the better deal for you. :)

Hi Ash, Check out INSUREANDGO

They are a good company, I used them when I was away last year and they were friendly when I came to making a claim too, which is helpful.

Apart from that I checked them for you and their cheapest for 18 months is £225 and the next one up is for £300 which is not bad at all. Hope it helps... ;)

The UK is one of those countries where insurance companies have been aggressively competing for so long that the prices local players offer can be insanely good. Aside from insureandgo , mentioned above, try STA and some of those other student youth travel agencies and see what they have on offer.

The next thing to do is closely compare the basic coverages. Cheaper insurance generally means you are losing coverage, so you'll have to make an assesment if that is worth it for you (ie. going down 100 000 in medical coverage will bring down the cost quite a lot, just like 2000 less in lost/stolen baggage will - the first one because medical coverage can be expensive in certain countries for the insurer, the second because it is the most common claim).
