Hey guys!

Anybody has recently been in Sao Paulo and can reccommend a good, safe (and cheap) hostel to stay for a couple of nights?? I've got few reccommendations fron the books but I always think that "mouth to mouth" info is much better.. ;)

Hi Miromar, it is nice to know about you again. I have to say you that I didn't see many hostels in Sao Paulo, only hotels. Fortunately, in Rio I met with a girl from Ecuador that recommend me a relative cheap hotel close Av. Paulista (cheap in relation to others I saw around it): Paulista Garden. The adress was Av. Brigadeiro Luiz Antonio, 6 blocks from Av. Paulista. Room USD 35 a day, but I think there are other rooms of USD 25.
However I would have liked to be in center of the city: República or Sé because the old buildings and tradicional places are in these places.

good luck

P.D. If you pass by Lima, contact with me.

I also didn't see much in the way of hostel accommodation when I was in Sao Paulo. I stayed at two places one mentioned hostel in the name, but was infact a guesthouse the other was a hostel but was a bit out of the city centre. The one that was actually a hostel was Hostelling International Praça da Arvore. It was a reasonable place (probably about the best in Sao Paulo) to stay at and reasonably priced. It was approximately a 10 minute walk from the metro.

Thanks very much for your help! I have found some guesthouse/hostel called Pousada dos Franceses near Av Paulista and Bixiga that looks ok, but i'll check out the ones you recommended before booking anything!
