Just thought I'd let people know that if you intend to book Hanoi accomm. online, avoid any place that has the address 3 Thanh Ha lane as the owner has listed it on this website under about 10 different names, such as Sofitel Plaza, Rex Hotel and Continental Hotel....all with different GREAT photos, but in reality it is a mouldy old building! Gotta give him points for trying!

Thanks for that! I'm just starting to look around for a place to stay in Hanoi.

Can you recommend anywhere that's ok?

I am going to address this question in a PM to you.

Wow, thanks okebro for pointing that out. Looking through the list I found 9 (!) properties with that address. I have forwarded the comment on to our booking partner and would expect them to act on this fairly urgently. It also seems like they are not the only property in Hanoi doing this - I saw a few other addresses pop up several times as well.

This is of course not at all acceptable behaviour

Last month, My friend and I stayed at the Golden Sun Hotel at 23 Hang Hanh, in the Old quarter. It was super close to everything and was pretty inexpensive. They speak English, have an elevator, breakfast is included, great rooms, and a travel area to book day trips.
